Abstract
Objectives:
1. Review the history and evolution of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) as a proven, efficacious therapy for patients with chronic lung disease.
2. Understand the pathophysiologic basis of improvements in outcome measures due to exercise training.
3. Discuss pulmonary rehabilitation (pr) program components and structure, including evolving concepts and trends.

Dr. William Sexauer is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital/Methodist Hospital of Philadelphia. He transferred from Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Sexauer is a member of the Athenaeum Honor Society. Dr. Sexauer's research interests are cystic fibrosis in adults with lung disease and respiratory lung diseases.
