Description

Rebecca Starkey, DM, CNM earned her doctoral degree in midwifery from Thomas Jefferson University in 2022. Previously she studied microbiology and molecular biology, public health, and nursing, in addition to midwifery. An experienced clinician, she has practiced full-scope midwifery in hospital and community settings. She currently works in a midwife-owned birth center providing well-woman care. Combining her passion for midwifery, molecular biology, and her experience parenting six children including one with special needs, she chose to focus her doctoral work on assessing an educational intervention among Florida midwives’ to improve self-efficacy in genetic counseling, particularly in community settings. When she is not providing midwifery care, Rebecca is a drag racer and a leader in the automotive performance aftermarket. Rebecca and her husband own a business that manufactures superchargers and other performance parts of late-model Fords.
