Abstract
Objectives:
- Identify the need for effective relationship, sexuality expression, and sex education programming for adolescents with IDD based on current literature.
- Examine the role of occupational therapy in facilitating the development of healthy dating behaviors for adolescents with IDD.
- Apply components of a best practice approach to facilitate the development of appropriate dating behaviors for adolescents with IDD.
PICO Question:
What interventions within the scope of occupational therapy will lead to appropriate dating behaviors in adolescents and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities?
