Abstract

Purpose

To develop a summative OSCE for fourth-year medical students to assess core clinical skills for internship readiness and remediate low performers.

Program directors report gaps between expectations and interns’ skills.

End of clerkship OSCEs, End of third-year summative OSCE

• Different competencies assessed
• Not reflective of graduation skills

An end-of-fourth-year summative OSCE was developed to

• Assess advanced reasoning and communication
• Assure residency readiness
• Identify and remediate clinical skills deficiencies
