Abstract

Dr. Kane is Professor of Medicine, Vice Chairman for Education, and Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He maintains an active practice in Pulmonary/Critical Care at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Prior to becoming Residency Director. Dr. Kane was the Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship Director at Jefferson. He has served as Interim Division Director of the Pulmonary/Critical Care from 2008 through September 2010.

A national leader in the fields of Pulmonary Medicine, and Medical Education, Dr. Kane has been active with the American Board of Internal Medicine, the Council of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, and as Co-Chair of the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine Advocacy Committee co-authoring the Association's Position Statement on National Physician Workforce needs. Through this Association Dr. Kane has pursued his passion for mentoring and supporting the growth of young physicians as they develop their hospital based core and specialty training.
