Description

Elizabeth A. Spudich, PhD, is the JeffMD Anatomy Thread Director and Assistant Professor of Pathology, Anatomy and Cell Biology, for Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Spudich graduated from Wildwood Catholic High School in 1983 and from Chestnut Hill College in 1992, BS in Biology. She received her PhD from TJU in Developmental Biology and Experimental Teratology in 1998. During this time she began teaching Embryology, Gross Anatomy and Neuroanatomy.

Dr. Spudich has numerous publications in the following journals: Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Immunology, Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and Progress in Lipid Research.

Dr. Spudich returned to Jefferson in 2012 as an Assistant Professor teaching anatomical sciences in the Department of Pathology, Anatomy & Cell Biology, eventually coming to co-direct the Human Form and Development course in the Medical College. She worked on the JeffMD Steering Committee to help design and operationalize the new JeffMD curriculum and currently serves as the Anatomy Thread director and co-director of the Cardio Pulmonary Block in JeffMD.

Dr. Spudich is an advocate of technology in anatomy education, expanding the use of platforms like Biolucida, Articulate, Nearpod, and ExamSoft, and is co-creator of the iCE@TJU App. She is also an advocate of arts and humanities in medical education, and is a co-creator of the Visualizing Anatomy Selective in the Humanities Curriculum for JeffMD

Dr. Spudich participates in a number of programs to promote STEM education, including the Future Health Professionals program, Perry Initiative, Camp Neuro and Camp Cardio.
