Abstract

Objectives

• Define autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and its core characteristics
• Provide insights into the underdiagnosis and misdiagnosis of ASD in females
• Highlight the differences in how autism may manifest in women compared to men
• Explore the intersectionality of autism and gender through consideration of how cultural, societal, and systemic factors influence diagnosis and access to services
• Discuss interventions and suports for females with ASD
