Description

William Copeland, Jr., is the Practice Leader for Deloitte Consulting’s health reform initiative focused on serving client needs around the changes resulting from the Patient Care Act. Mr. Copeland brings to his role more than 27 years of experience in the managed care industry serving more than 50 health plans in 40 different markets. He specializes in providing strategy, operations, turnaround and merger and acquisition services, and has worked with some of the Deloitte U.S Firms' largest health plan clients and on some of the most complex engagements in the health plan sector.

Mr. Copeland has worked with the boards of many public and not-for-profit health plans on strategic issues such as financial and operational turnarounds, future alignment, affiliations and mergers, and development of new businesses initiatives. He has also led several projects around corporate governance and new management processes that link strategy to metrics and board oversight.

Mr. Copeland’s experience also included starting a national physician practice management company through venture capital funding and strategic partner investments of over $100 million and managing the mid-Atlantic region for United Healthcare.

Mr. Copeland has served on the Finance Committee for the Board of Trustees of St Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana and is involved in CityYear, an AmeriCorps organization that provides leadership and teaching opportunities to youths 18-24 years old. Mr. Copeland has a master's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor's degree in psychology and economics from the University of Dayton.
