Abstract

Brain health is the state of brain functioning that allows a person to reach their full potential throughout their life. A number of factors have been identified as affecting brain health at the individual, community, and societal levels. The promotion of brain health is imperative. In this recorded presentation, learn from our panel of speakers about the latest research and groundbreaking innovations with practical applications that are shaping the future of brain health.

Dr. Cruzat is a distinguished neuroscientist dedicated to advancing brain health. With a PhD in Biomedicine, she integrates neuroimaging, data analysis, and mathematical modeling to unravel the complexities of brain dynamics and cognitive function. Dr. Cruzat's pioneering research extends beyond academia, significantly impacting real-world applications. She is deeply committed to translating scientific findings into actionable public policies and innovative workplace health strategies. Her passion lies in leveraging neuroscience to build brain capital and foster well-being across diverse communities. By bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and practical implementation, Dr. Cruzat is at the forefront of a movement to enhance cognitive health and quality of life on a broader societal scale.

Brian Harris is the Co-Founder and CEO of MedRhythms, a company at the intersection of music, neuroscience, and technology. A board-certified music therapist and one of only 350 Neurologic Music Therapist Fellows globally, he created Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital's first full-time Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) program, specializing in brain injuries and neurologic diseases. Harris also co-founded the Arts & Neuroscience group at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and has spoken at prestigious institutions like Harvard Medical School and Stanford University. His work in music therapy has been featured in major outlets like Forbes and CNBC. Harris holds multiple patents related to MedRhythms' products and has co-authored several publications on music and rehabilitation. He has been recognized in MedTech Boston's 40 Under 40 Healthcare Innovators and named among the Top 100 Innovation CEOs by World Biz Magazine.

Dr. Migeot is an early-career postdoctoral neuroscientist and Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health. He is dedicated to studying brain health disparities in underserved populations in Latin America. Motivated by witnessing the effects of inequality, Joaquín began researching vulnerable groups during his second year of psychology studies. He completed an MSc in Social Psychology and worked with a low-income community in Santiago, Chile, to address local issues. Joaquín pursued a Ph.D. in Social Neuroscience and Cognition to deepen his expertise, developing a framework to assess how social adversity impacts body systems and brain health. As an Atlantic Fellow, he now uses multimodal approaches, including cognitive assessments, self-reports, and brain imaging, to explore the effects of social determinants on brain health in underrepresented populations. His work aims to create meaningful social impact and improve the quality of life for disadvantaged communities.
