Abstract
Objectives
At the conclusion of this talk the learner will:
- Understand the history and basic pharmacology of ketamine
- Understand the relevant research on ketamine use in cancer-related pain
- Understand the challenges to treating depression in palliative care and hospice patients and how ketamine can benefit these patients
- Be able to identify patients who may benefit from ketamine treatment
- Recommend an initial dosing regimen for ketamine
- Appreciate the vast amount of current and future research into ketamine
