Mortality rates: Anorexia has the highest rate of mortality of any mental illness
- estimated all-cause standardized mortality ratio of 1.7 to 5.9
Comorbidities:
- elevated risk of anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use disorders
- Sequelae of obesity with BED
Not merely an illness of white upper class women:
- Prevalence growing in a faster rate in male, lower socioeconomic, and older individuals
