In 2021, an inter-disciplinary working group at our medical school developed a "disability care" concentration in our internal medicine residency program. We presented it at a national program directors' conference, and in discussions about the program's reproducibility, found that many hospitals and health systems lacked clinical expertise in the care of people with disabilities.
Hence, this lecture series.
We polled our faculty, community organizations, and stakeholders about which disability-specific topics would be of interest to clinicians trying to learn more about disability-focused care. We came up with this initial set of lectures--delivered by experts in their respective fields--but the project is ongoing and generative. We'll continue to add and refine content as suggestions and needs arise.
In the meantime...welcome. We hope you'll find these videos helpful and that they'll serve as important resources as you care for your patients with disabilities.
