Kevin J. Gutierrez received his BA in Spanish from The Ohio State University and his master’s degree in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University, and is currently a third-year student at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC). He has presented widely at national and international conferences on structural racism and medical education. Linda C. Magaña received her BA in History from Columbia University in the City of New York, her Masters of Science degree in The History of Science, Medicine and Technology as well as her Ph.D. in The History of Science in Medicine from the University of Oxford. She has presented widely at national and international conferences on health disparities in Puerto Rico and on structural racism and medical education

Abstract

Linda and Kevin are the co-creators of the inaugural Race and Medicine Seminar Series for the first-year medical school curriculum at SKMC and are currently invited lecturers in the JeffMD First Year curriculum. Both are currently third-year students at SKMC.
