Abstract
Too often patrons ask Doctor Bing and Doctor Google about their health concerns, and the top results can be scary to the average consumer. This presentation given at the Public Library Convention in Philadelphia provided a quick “how to” for dealing with patron concerns and providing helpful web resources in the framework of the Reference and User Services Guidelines to help understand medical conditions. Resources such as National Institutes of Health resources, Merck Manual, and how to support patrons in other languages, were provided for information on various health literacy topics along with collection development ideas.
