Abstract
At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Review risk factors for and guidelines suggesting methods to prevent VTE in hospitalized patients
- Explain how a systems approach can improve prescription of VTE prophylaxis
- Examine the impact of surveillance bias on public reporting of DVT rates
- Discuss adopting missed VTE prophylaxis doses as a quality improvement target
