Description

Dr. Christa Schorr - Clinical Nurse Scientist, Associate Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School, Cooper University Healthcare
Christa Schorr is a Clinical Nurse Scientist at Cooper University Hospital and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School at Rowan University. During her 25 years in nursing, she has practiced at the bedside, directed critical care quality improvement and clinical research and was the program manager for a North American sepsis clinical trial. Christa received her Diploma in Nursing from Helene Fuld School of Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University and her Masters of Science in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice degrees from Drexel University.
Christa has lectured nationally and internationally on sepsis and performance improvement and authored or co-authored over 150 peer reviewed articles, book chapters and abstracts.. Working with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Christa was part of the three member team that developed, field tested and finalized the content of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) performance improvement (PI) software and 2012 revision, that was used in by more than 200 sites worldwide to enter over 30,000 patients in the SCCM housed severe sepsis PI database. She has served as national faculty for Phase III and IV Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Surviving Sepsis Campaign Collaboratives and three statewide collaboratives in NJ, RI and MD. Christa is a member of the SCCM’s Thrive Task Force Committee, the SSC Executive Committee, and is the current SSC Guidelines Committee Group Head for long term outcomes and goals of care. Ms. Schorr continues to stress the importance of early sepsis identification, development of sepsis care processes and the significance of patient and family engagement.
