Abstract

Objectives

At the end of this presentation, learners will be able to:

1. Discuss how buprenorphine's unique pharmacology differs from full mu-opioid agonists.
2. Distinguish between spontaneous opioid withdrawal and precipitated opioid withdrawal.
3. Explain the rationale behind low-dose/crossover buprenorphine inductions.
4. Enact effective buprenorphine inductions in the outpatient treatment setting.
