- 14,088 individuals experience homelessness (IEH) across the state of Pennsylvania, with over 50% concentrated in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia1
- In late 2021, only 4 medical school programs existed that conducted street outreach to support individuals experiencing homelessness in Pennsylvania before the pandemic.2 None existed at the undergraduate level.
- Street outreach has been linked to increased motivation of IEH to seek services by removing stigma via positive, nonjudgmental relationships.3,4
