Description
Background
Individuals with substance use disorders often face challenges in accessing and utilizing primary care, exacerbated by a lack of social support. Understanding the intricate dynamics between social support and primary care utilization is crucial for enhancing healthcare delivery, especially among vulnerable populations such as women undergoing substance use disorder treatment. There is a lack of research regarding this connection and our research aims to change that. We want to explore how social support influences the use of regular healthcare, particularly for women facing substance use challenges. By doing this research, we hope it will lead to future discoveries of new ways to remove barriers to primary care through improving social support systems for this population.
