- About 29% adults 65+ in developed countries have type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and the number of older adults living with these conditions is expected to increase rapidly in the coming decades
- Over-treatment of DM in older adults is common and increases risks of serios adverse outcomes including hypoglycemia
- Older adults with T2DM should have higher A1c goal consistent with ADA guidelines: [See Table on Poster]
