Abstract

The oxygen saturation of ELGANs is closely monitored throughout their hospital stay, as saturations too high or too low are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Despite known benefits of maintaining oxygen saturation within certain parameters for ELGANs to avoid such comorbidities and death, these parameters are often not maintained. Clinical changes of the neonates, clinical workload of NICU staff, and limited real-time data analysis play a role in not maintaining saturations within target parameters. Etiometry is a clinical decision support software that seeks to aggregate data from bedside monitors as well as EHRs in real-time to aid in management of critical care patients. One aspect of this software is the creation of clinical pathways, which display real time data analysis of how a patient is meeting certain physiologic targets. This project seeks to use an Etiometry Clinical Pathway within the NICU at NCHDE to decrease the time oxygen saturations are outside goal parameters by 20% for ELGANs by February 28th, 2026.
