Abstract
Surface imaging is a new concept for the imaging industry developed by assessing the current state of the digital textile printing industry to optimize it for its maximum potential. It is defined as a new field to visualize a variety of imageries for various physical forms, using advanced digital printing technologies, including direct coloration on diverse porous and nonporous substrates, as well as fabrication printing of additive material deposition and subtraction printing technologies. It is trans-disciplinary, to move beyond the traditional boundaries of existing specialized disciplines that contain numerous opportunities for design, product development, management and applied engineering. This presentation disseminates the concepts, opportunities and rationale for this new field of surface imaging to provide greater opportunities to digital textile printing industry.
