1885 graduate of Jefferson Medical College. Professor of Surgery, Jefferson Medical College, 1900-1931, and first Samuel D. Gross Professor of Surgery, 1910-1931. Caption reads, "Commander, Medical Corps, U.S.N.R.F. Entered service April 1, 1917. Duty as surgical consultant to the Fourth Naval District and on board the 'U.S.S. George Washington." Releived from active duty July 1, 1919.
