The second published history of Jefferson Medical College was this two-volume 1904 edition which included numerous biographies and photographic portraits of turn of the century alumni and faculty. Authored by George Milbry Gould (1848-1922), a Jefferson graduate of the Class of 1888 and noted ophthalmologist, he was also founder and first president on the Medical Library Association. Gould was more widely known for his other significant publication, Gould’s Medical Dictionary, which saw numerous editions from 1890 until 1979. At one time it was the “best selling medical book in the world.”
