Learning Objectives

• Basic epidemiology of hip pain
• Relevant hip anatomy - landmarks, muscles, ligaments, nerves
• Review normal range of motion planes
• Discuss a framework for approaching the history physical examination of hip pain
• Briefly highlight a differential diagnoses for commons etiologies of hip pain
• Distinguishing back pathology from true hip pathology
• Focus on the judicious use of imaging modalities available to narrow the differential
• Recommendations on the initial steps of management of hip pain
