Abstract
Objectives:
- Review the general concept of complementary and alternative medicine
- Explore the evidence base of certain modalities in the management of chronic pain: most common, easy to incorporate and financially feasible
- Show the applicability of integrative therapies to our patient population
- Provide resources for clinical use
What will not be covered:
- Every single type of integrative therapy: energy therapies, Ayurveda, all aspects of traditional Chinese medicine, other traditional healers
- Discussion on specific pain syndromes: how each pain syndrome is treated
