Abstract
As physicians in training, much of our work is shaped by immediacy – responding to evolving clinical situations, navigating diagnostic uncertainty, and making decisions with present information. In this environment, it can be easy to prioritize action over reflection. Yet it is through reflection, inquiry, and shared scholarship that we deepen our understanding of medicine and the patients we serve.
It is within this spirit that we present Volume 27 of The Medicine Forum. This publication represents not only scholarly achievement, but also the intellectual curiosity and dedication that define our community.
This year, we were particularly struck by the breadth of perspective represented in these pages. The contributions explore complex diagnostic challenges, rare and instructive clinical presentations, and thoughtful integration of emerging technologies. Just as importantly, several pieces turn inward – exploring the ethical tensions, emotional labor, and human experiences that shape us as physicians. Together, these works underscore that medicine exists not only in clinical precision but also in uncertainty, innovation, and empathy.
The Medicine Forum continues to serve as a platform for resident voices – voices that are actively shaping the future of medicine. We are grateful to the authors for their thoughtful contributions and to our editorial staff, whose expertise and careful stewardship maintain the rigor and integrity of this publication. We are grateful to Timothy Flanagan, whose dedication and creative vision are instrumental in bringing our ideas to life.
We hope this issue informs and inspires continued inquiry, reflection, and discussion. In a field that demands so much of our attention outward, may we continue to make space for looking inward as well.
