Selected Works of JoAnne Reifsnyder
My research is focused on palliative and end of life care practice, administration, education and research. I lecture on topics related to ethical decision making, palliative and end of life care, and quality improvement in hospice. My dissertation research examined decisions making about hospice enrollment in persons with advanced cancer (PhD, 2000), and my postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania was in psychosocial oncology. I am currently co-investigator on an NINR-funded study to evaluate the psychometric properties and clinical utility of a multidimensional, objective pain assessment tool in palliative care patients who are unable to self-report pain. Previous studies examined the effect of ethics education for staff in long term care facilities and the effects of writing and sharing narratives of caregiving on the job satisfaction of direct care workers in nursing homes.
