Speaker Biography
Dr. Pelegano is assistant professor at the Jefferson School of Population Health (JSPH) where he focuses on the integration of physician leaders into healthcare quality structures. As Program Director for the Master's Program for Healthcare Quality and Safety at JSPH, he oversees the program and teaches the Advanced Application of Quality & Safety Methods in Clinical Settings and the Capstone Seminar
Dr. Pelegano has had a diverse care in health care beginning as a pediatrician in private practice and then in neonatology on the faculties of both the Medical College of Wisconsin and Columbia University in New York City. As Director of neonatology at a three hospital system in New York, he created systems for quality and safety based on the integration of IT solutions with evidence based practice, educational systems and advanced bench marking. As a member of Harvard Medical International he became the Director of Quality and Safety at Dubai Healthcare City in Dubai, UAE, bringing quality and safety into a highly complex medical delivery system.
He continued his career in international health as Director of Healthcare Consulting for Huron Consulting Group's Middle East practice. There he worked with Weil Cornell Medical Center developing clinical systems for a large teaching hospital in Doha Qatar.
