Talar Tatarian, MD, served as Program Chair for The Women’s Leadership in Surgery Society (WLISS) annual meeting in Washington, D.C. last September. She was joined by three of our residents – Drs. Fari Fall, Sneha Alaparthi, and Isheeta Madeka.

Keshava Rajagopal, MD, PhD, was awarded a $125,000 grant from the W.W. Smith Charitable Trust for the project entitled “Allosteric modulation of beta2-adrenergic receptor to enhance cardiac function.”

Michelle Hughes, MSN, RN, CBRN, was recently certified as one of the first certified burn nurses by the American Burn Association (ABA). Hughes is the Burn Nurse Coordinator at the Jefferson Burn Center. Last summer, 400 burn nurses from around the world participated in the beta testing of the first certification exam developed by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) and the ABA. Only 165 nurses earned the CBRN credential.

Jefferson Surgery is well represented in The American College of Surgeons (Metropolitan Chapter) leadership team: Susanna Nazarian, MD, PhD (President), Robert Josloff, MD (Secretary-Treasurer), Council Members Anirudh Kohli, MD, and Renee Tholey, MD, and Threshia Malcolm, MD, MS (Resident Representative).
