Investiture of Dr. Francesco Palazzo, MD, FACS, FASMBS


Eika Barriera-Justiniano, MSN, AGACNPBC, at the 2025 Jefferson Health APC Excellence Awards

On November 13, Francesco Palazzo, MD, FACS, FASMBS, was invested as the inaugural Hollingsworth Family Professor of Surgery. A professor and clinical outcomes researcher at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, he also serves as Vice Chair and Chief of Surgery at Jefferson Methodist Hospital.

In September, Joshua Marks, MD, FACS, FCCM, started his term as President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Tyler Grenda, MD, MS, FACS, received the Barnett Memorial Award for Early Career Clinical Investigation to support “The Impact of Surgical Technique on Circulating Tumor DNA in Early-Stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer." The award is sponsored by the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Michael Nooromid, MD, has been promoted to Associate Professor in the Division of Vascular Surgery, and Jose Torres, MD, FACS, has been promoted to Assistant Professor in the Division of Acute Care Surgery.

Avinoam Nevler, MD, received a Jefferson Emerging Medical Scholars Program (JEMS) Junior Faculty Award to support “Targeting Hypercapnia-Induced Chemotherapy Resistance in Pancreatic Cancer” under the mentorship of Charles J. Yeo, MD. The award is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Jefferson Clinical Research Institute.
