Genetic Counseling in Ophthalmology: An Interview

Abstract

Ms. Procopio has been practicing as a genetic counselor for seven years, and in the Department of Ocular Genetics at Wills Eye Hospital for the past four years. She provides patients with information necessary to understand the role of genetic testing and the impact of results on their care as well as potential implications for family members. Given the rapidly changing field of ophthalmic genetics, Ms. Procopio is an important member of the multidisciplinary care team of patients with rare genetic conditions.
