As Associate Administrator for the Division of Acute Care Surgery, Lauren Meloni supports a team of 22 trauma surgeons who provide care at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, Lankenau Medical Center and Paoli Hospital. She also oversees operations for the Division’s ambulatory services in Center City.
Every day, she bridges clinical needs and administrative solutions – a role well suited to her professional experience and educational credentials.
Meloni started her career providing direct patient care as a physical therapist assistant (PTA). After five years, she pivoted to the administrative side of health care, joining Jefferson Health in November 2022 in a regulatory affairs role. In August 2024, she transitioned to her current role and responsibilities, which include physician onboarding, contract management and licensure tracking. She also assists the Division’s physician leadership with clinical and community impact projects.
“I enjoy observing clinical aspects while playing an administrative role on behalf of our clinicians and patients,” says Meloni, who holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from Saint Joseph’s University and keeps her clinical perspective fresh by working as a PTA on a per-diem basis.
In addition to her work for the Division of Acute Care Surgery, Meloni supports Chief Nurse Executive Officer Kate FitzPatrick, DNP, RN, ACNP, FAAN, NEA-BC, in leading American Heart Association Heart Walks. Meloni helps coordinate walks across the Jefferson enterprise but takes a larger leadership role for the Center City event. Last year, the initiative attracted more than 700 participants across the organization. Through early outreach and engagement, she’s hoping to generate even more interest and funds for the cause. This year’s Heart Walk is scheduled for early November at Citizens Bank Park.
Meloni grew up in West Chester, PA, and now lives in Philadelphia. She cites “sister” restaurants Zahav and Laser Wolf as among her favorite eateries and visiting the Jersey Shore as a cherished lifelong pastime.
