Abstract

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand frailty as a dynamic syndrome, distinct from aging, disability or comorbidity
  • Know the definition of frailty but understand that it continues to evolve
  • Be aware that the spectrum of frailty can be divided into 3 stages
  • Understand the basic pathophysiology of the frailty cycle
  • Using accepted models or screening tools, be able to clinically identify frailty
  • Be aware of biological markers of frailty
  • Know the strategies to prevent and reverse frailty and the evidence behind these strategies
  • Feel comfortable identifying and treating frail patients
