Abstract

Objectives

1. Define type 2 diabetes.
2. Explain the pharmacological approach to a patient with type 2 diabetes and the evidence to support the 2019 changes as per the ADA Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes.
3. Discuss practical approaches to managing diabetes, including health maintenance, as it relates to patients with diabetes with JFMA.
4. Given a patient case, apply the 2019 ADA Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes to develop an evidence-based, patient specific, complete pharmacotherapy plan for the management of type 2 diabetes.
