This didactic session is aimed at dental students, residents, and practicing dentists. It is an update, from a standpoint of an Internal Medicine primary care physician, on caveats of dental care in patients with common medical ailments. Content focuses on implications on dental care for patients with hypertension and diabetes, patients who are taking anticoagulants and bisphosphonates, and patients who are immunosuppressed. Indications for antibiotics during dental procedures are discussed.
