Kathryn M. Kash, PhD, is Associate Professor of Health Policy and Psychiatry & Human Behavior at Thomas Jefferson University/Jefferson Medical College and Member of the Kimmel Cancer Center. She completed her graduate work in Psychology at the Graduate School and University Center, City University of New York and completed a two-year fellowship in psycho-oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In the Department of Health Policy she focuses on developing outcomes measures for residency training programs according to ACGME guidelines, developing interventions to prevent and control chronic diseases, and teaches various curriculums to medical and graduate students as well as residents. Her current cancer research interests are looking at how people make decisions about their health care, complementary approaches to cancer treatment, and determining patient preferences for enrolling in clinical trials. Dr. Kash's clinical psychology practice has been in the treatment of the emotional distress associated with cancer, primarily women with cancer, and helping people make informed decisions about genetic testing for cancer susceptibility, treatment for cancer, and strategies for the prevention of cancer.
