Learning Objectives

After this lecture, the learner should be able to:

• Discuss the intricacies of the 2017-2018 influenza outbreak
• Describe current influenza vaccine guidelines
• Recognize the difference between influenza and the common cold
• Implement the current CDC guidelines for testing, treating, and giving prophylaxis for influenza
